On Wednesday, October 28, Consul General Kang Jung met with Young S. Suh, Chairman of the Korean Heritage Scholarship Foundation, and members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Consul General Kang expressed his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of Chairman Suh and the board members, noting that the Foundation’s scholarship programs play a meaningful role in passing on to future generations the spirit of solidarity and hope that has helped the Korean American community grow and rebuild in the aftermath of the April 29 unrest.
He also noted that, as the community approaches the 35th anniversary of the April 29 unrest next year, it is an important opportunity to reflect on the values of sharing and unity embodied in the Foundation’s scholarships. He reaffirmed that the Consulate General would continue to work with the Foundation to help nurture future leaders who can serve as a bridge between the Korean American community and the broader local community.
