The 5th Republic of Korea (ROK)-U.S. Energy Security Dialogue was held in Washington D.C. on June 8, 2018. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Scientific Affairs Kwon Sei-joong and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy Sandra Oudkirk led the discussions.
The discussions focused on national energy policies, bilateral cooperation in energy, energy issues in Northeast Asia, and mutual cooperation in multilateral fora.
Both the ROK and the U.S. assessed that energy cooperation between Korea, a state with high foreign energy dependency, and the U.S., a major energy supplier state, provides an opportunity for expanding energy security and mutual energy industry cooperation for both countries. Both countries have agreed to closely continue working on energy cooperation.
